Stripe Transactions Stuck in For Review in QuickBooks
A growing For review queue is how the free Stripe Connector is designed. How to clear the backlog, the mass-confirm trap, and the automatic alternative.
If you connected Stripe to QuickBooks Online with the free Stripe Connector by QuickBooks, you have probably watched the App transactions tab fill up with Stripe sales waiting in "For review". Fifty become two hundred, the batch-confirm button does not always cooperate, and clearing the queue turns into a recurring chore.
Here is the thing most people miss: the queue is not a malfunction. It is how the free connector is designed to work. This post explains the design, how to clear the backlog, the trap to avoid before you mass-confirm anything, and what to use instead if reviewing sales by hand is not a job you want. (Short version: Acodei posts Stripe activity to your books automatically, no queue. Try it free.)
Why Stripe transactions pile up in For review
The free connector is a review-and-post queue, not an automatic sync. New Stripe activity appears in the App transactions section of QuickBooks Online, typically within hours, and waits for you to Confirm (post to your books) or Exclude each transaction. Nothing reaches your ledger until you act. Intuit's help article for the connector describes the workflow.
So a growing For review pile is the tool operating as intended. The design assumes you want eyes on every transaction, which is reasonable at 20 transactions a month and unworkable at 500.
Clearing the backlog
- Confirm in batches. Select multiple transactions and confirm them together. Reviews on the connector's listing from March 2026 report the batch action failing for some users; if it fails for you, smaller batches tend to fare better than one large one.
- Exclude what does not belong. Test transactions and activity you have recorded another way should be excluded, not confirmed, or you will double-post.
- Turn on auto-add if you trust the mapping. The connector has an optional setting that posts new transactions without manual review. That removes the daily chore, but read the next section before enabling it.
The trap: confirm is permanent
Before you mass-confirm hundreds of transactions, know what the free connector cannot do afterward:
- No resync or replay. Once a transaction posts, its mapping is frozen. If the income account or item mapping was wrong, the fix is manual recategorization.
- No bulk delete. Cleanup means opening each synced transaction in QuickBooks and deleting it individually.
In other words, the queue is the one checkpoint the tool gives you. Confirm a misconfigured batch and you have converted a backlog problem into a cleanup project. Verify where a few transactions land (income account, item, fees) before clearing the rest, and be doubly sure before enabling auto-add.
If the queue is a daily chore, change the model
A review queue at volume is not a workflow problem you can optimize away; it is the product's model. The alternative model is a ledger-first sync: transactions post to QuickBooks automatically with account assignments driven by mapping rules you set once, and your bank feed match becomes the checkpoint instead of a per-transaction click.
That is how Acodei works. Every Stripe charge, refund, dispute, fee, and payout is recorded automatically under ordered mapping rules (by Product ID, Price ID, metadata, value, or description), and if you change a rule later you can resync history to apply it, something the free connector cannot do. Payouts then match cleanly in the bank feed. For the fee side of that reconciliation, see our guide to reconciling Stripe fees in QuickBooks, and for the full feature comparison, the Acodei vs free connector page.
FAQ
Are stuck transactions a sign the connector is broken?
Usually not. Transactions sitting in For review are the designed behavior: the connector waits for you to confirm each one. Genuinely missing transactions are a different problem; some payment types, notably ACH, are reported not to import at all. See our ACH troubleshooting guide.
Should I turn on auto-add?
Only after confirming a sample of transactions posts to the right accounts. Auto-add with a wrong mapping, combined with no resync and no bulk delete, is the most expensive mistake the free connector lets you make.
Does confirming transactions match them to my bank deposits?
No. Confirming posts the transaction to your books; your Stripe payout deposits still need to be matched in the bank feed rather than added as new income, or revenue gets double-counted.
